New application test...

After the severe failure of Bloggerdroid, I decided to give this new application a test drive. Bloggerdroid succumbed to advertisers, and their app became one big spam tool, thanks to Airpush. So here is the first post utilizing Blogger, which isn't as pretty, but looks like it will get the job done.

MERRY CHRISTMAS...

Another Christmas in the books, and it was a wonderful one for sure. I got to spend Christmas Eve with my girlfriend, and eat the traditional Chinese food washed down with Framboise Lambic Raspberry beer. Christmas day I spent with my girls and my parents, eating St. Louis pork ribs and relaxing.
I got sick with a particularly nasty stomach bug a couple days before Christmas, and it wasn't too much fun. I also somehow developed a hemorrhoid (or that's what I think it is at least)...I have to see the doc about it next week. It really blows. So aside from being in a bit of pain and being ill, I managed to feel better and enjoyed the holiday regardless.
2010 is rapidly coming to a close. I will be posting a retrospect on 2010 next weekend, so stay tuned. Hope all you guys had a fantastic holiday weekend, and I will see all of you next year...or earlier if I have any really cool news..hahaha.

Quick walkthru of Mac

Bootup of Mac Mini

CARTER RIDE

So here is my first attempt as using Imovie to edit high-def video. I have to say this process is MUCH better and dependable than the PC and ProShow Gold.
First off, the load times were greatly reduced when compared to PC. In order to load the Carter Road clips I had, it took the Mac about 15 minutes to set them up and create thumbnails, which would have taken the PC close to an hour. The editing process is a slight learning curve, but I have started to get the hang of it. It is a relatively simple click and drag method to select segments and put them into the project. There are screen transitions, nowhere near the amount on the ProShow program, but that's just fine- I usually never used most of them anyhow.
Once I had the video set up, the rendering process and upload process to Youtube, was just the easiest thing in the world. Whereas ProShow would throw out errors to me for trying to upload to Youtube, this program works flawlessly. That entire process took close to an hour as well, for a 7 minute long video. Amazing. Additionally, the video is flawless, with no frozen frames that was notorious on ProShow.
I am going to be looking into Final Cut and also a good photo slideshow maker soon. But all in all, I am quite happy with IMovie for the simple things I am doing right now.

MINI MAC!

So I never thought that I would venture to the world of Mac...but here I am...and I am loving it!
I picked up a Mac Mini with the Intel 1.66 and 2 gigs of RAM. The reason I wanted the computer was to edit video, and I honestly had no idea I'd be using it for anything other than that. But once I hooked it up and started messing with it, I was amazed at how fast it boots up, and how fast all the tasks were...not just video editing. So after messing with it for an hour or so, I transferred all my data from my PC to the mini, and now I am using it as my desktop computer.
As you can see by the picture, this computer takes up no room. Everything I need is right next to my computer monitor...and although there's only 120gb on the hard drive, my 500gb backup is perfect for additional data storage. I will eventually go with a terabyte drive with networking capability to upgrade. This thing is awesome.
Over the next few months I will mess with some sideshow and video stuff and post it on up. The only thing I am missing so far is photoshop..but I am working on that...
