So a bunch of us hit the trails of San Felasco again on Sunday, and had an awesome time. I figure I would review some of the trails so those of you deciding to head out to this awesome spot have an idea of what to do and what to skip.

We started of at the trailhead and took Cellon Creek trail (see the map link I posted in the previous San Felasco post, or just Google "San Felasco Map"), out to the junction of Tung Nutt loop. This is a four-way doubletrack intersection, with Tung Nutt heading to the right, and a long, graded hill heading off to the left. Take the graded hill towards Hammock Hub. The reason it's good to do it this way, is you can hit the further-out trails and work your way back.

We took the portions of the loops shown in the map-now don't think that each loop is a perfect circle like the map depicts!!! These trails are all over the place- they definitely aren't ovals by any stretch! We ended up at Hidden Rise, which is a very tight and twisty singletrack with some pretty decent climbs- a bit overgrown in sections, but still a fun ride. Ravine is a very nice trail, with the options to build up nice speed along some of the areas, unlike some of these other trails. The only downfall with these outer trails, is they were TOO twisting. You can never get enough speed on the trails to have some serious fun; you are always braking and turning before you can really get going. This isn't the case with Tung Nutt and Conquistador; those trails offer some nice lengthy downhills and some fun speeds!

So overall, the outer loops are a great workout, and you can easily push 20-25 miles out of all the trails at Felasco...or more. But for a fun ride, stick to the closer trails like Conquistador, Tung Nutt, Cellon Creek, Hammock Hub, Ravine, and Sweet Gum. We skipped Live Oak and Canebrake on this one...will have to check them out next time!
