ROAD TRIP 2010...COUNTDOWN!
8 more hours to go....stay tuned for pictures from the road! Everything is all packed up and in boxes, and all I need to do in the morning is throw everything in the truck bed and put the bikes on the rack, then OFF TO LOUISIANA!! Tomorrow's drive is about 12 hours, and is actually a pretty decent drive. There's a lot of nice scenery, and the best part about everything is I am getting the HELL out of Florida!

DAY 13- MOAB TO AMARILLO VIA MONUMENT VALLEY
We must be up early to be on the road by no later than 8 am. The 2.5 hour drive out to Monument Valley should be very scenic and enjoyable, and maybe a couple side drives off to the viewpoints for some pictures. Can't spend too much time out here- we have a 9 hour drive from this area to Amarillo, TX.
We should hopefully be in Amarillo around 8 or 9. I am thinking we will be eating at the Big Texan on the outbound trip, mainly because I think it will be too rushed if we do this on this day. I want to spend the extra time in Monument Valley.

DAY 12-MOAB
This is a day that will be spent enjoying whatever tour we decide to take. Since the tour might not take all day, we can do some more hiking or even take in some biking depending on how we feel. Packing up camp this evening after dinner, to stay in a hotel for our last night in Moab. Since there are no showers in our campground, I am sure we will be quite funky, unless we take a little jaunt down to the river and rinse off!
DAY 11
We should be settled into our campsite as of the previous day, Devil's Garden CG in Arches National Park!
This campsite is at the far end of Arches, NP, and it should be a quiet and beautiful camping area. On this day, we are going to be exploring Arches, with a hike up to Delicate Arch in the morning, and then another hike out to the Windows section and maybe some of the other arches in the area. After a quick lunch, we head out to Canyonlands National Park, out to the overview for some incredible pictures.
We will then head into town in order to make our decision on what to do the next day: either horseback riding or take on Slickrock/ Amasa Back bike trail. My gal wants to take a horseback ride, which should actually be pretty cool, so I think we will focus on that for the next day's activities.

DAY 10
Prior to packing up camp, I am planning taking a quick run up to Bryce Canyon NP, and doing a quick hike on Navajo Loop down to the canyon floor. This needs to be done before packing up camp, because I don't want to have all the camping gear exposed in the bed of the truck. Once the hike is done, a quick jaunt back down to the campsite and load the gear, then heading out to MOAB!
